Our Repeater

SBARC maintains two open VHF repeaters which operate under the club call sign KR5NM. The repeaters both operate on an output frequency of 146.920 MHz (- offset) and require a CTCSS tone of either 151.4 Hz or 100 Hz, depending on which repeater a station wants to use. The Alto Crest repeater CTCSS tone is 151.4 Hz and the Camelot Ridge repeater uses 100 Hz. This system allows a user to instantly shift to an alternate repeater by simply changing the tone frequency in case of a failure of one machine.

Alto Crest 146.92 MHz (- offset) 151.4 Hz CTCSS tone

Camelot Ridge 146.92 MHz (- offset) 100.0 Hz CTCSS tone

The repeaters provide excellent coverage in the Village of Ruidoso and neighboring communities Ruidoso Downs, Alto, Nogal, and Capitan. Given the region's varied terrain, coverage in outlying areas is location dependent.

The plots below illustrate the areas of coverage for each respective repeater. The first plot shows the expected coverage from the Alto Crest repeater in Ruidoso. The second plot shows the expected coverage from the new Camelot repeater, also in Ruidoso.

All licensed amateurs are cordially invited to enjoy the club repeaters when in the area.

EchoLink Info

The club maintains an EchoLink interface on our local repeater. Inbound usage is limited to SBARC members. Outbound use is open for members and visitors. See the document link below for specific use instructions.

Repeater Survey Results

In September 2006 a survey was conducted to better gage member satisfaction with the club repeater. A summary of the results of that survey is available from the link below:
