Public Service

SBARC places an emphasis on public service to the community. Most members also belong to ARES® (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) in order to be better prepared for emergency situations. The club repeaters stand ready to support emergency communications or public service events in Ruidoso and Lincoln County, New Mexico.

We participate in the following public service and emergency preparedness events:

  • Communications support for the Endurance Horse Ride equestrian event in Lincoln County
  • Provided communications support for the Ski Run Road Challenge Foot Race in Ruidoso
  • Provided communications support for the Century Bicycle Race in Lincoln County
  • Conducts regular Lincoln County Emergency Net every Monday at 0100 UTC (Sunday evening local time) on the local repeater
  • Members participate in the New Mexico ARES/RACES Net twice monthly
  • Active participation in the annual nation-wide Field Day emergency preparedness exercise

Please contact the club if there is a community event for which you can use volunteer radio communications support.
